2025 Draft Day Recap: The Science of Being Wrong

+Year after year I sit down after the draft, grab a keyboard, and act like I’m Schefter with a crystal ball, when really I’m just guessing louder than the rest of you while I brutalize all of your rosters and draft day decisions. I’ll do that again this year where the only things that have changed are my hairline and the slang I overhear from my kids.

Last night we all probably walked away thinking our squads are sigma material. Week 2 will call some of that bluff with tweaked hamstrings and play-callers who seem to troll fantasy lineups for sport. Before handing out the verdicts, I’ll hold myself accountable and share a few receipts on where I’ve been right and where I’ve been gloriously wrong since 2020. Then we’ll dive straight into my made up post draft awards, crowning winners and losers.

So gear up and grab a teen interpreter because this version will be intentionally overfilled with Gen Z vocabulary, some 90s references, and the same old brutal and mostly inaccurate honesty from yours truly.

Receipts: A Tiny Slice of Humility

2020

• Whiff: I basically called SnickleFrits mid. He finished second and fed me crow.
• Right-ish: I loved Puro Macho and Flint Tropics. They finished first and second in the regular season, then sixth and seventh overall. Brutal playoffs.
• Got humbled: I clowned my brother Shawn with “hopefully not third worst.” He finished third overall. Joke was on me.
• Lesson: When I ignore boring volume, I get clowned by December. League will simp for August highlights; buy the role, not the reel.

2021

• Whiff: I gave Atwater a cursory “I liked some of your picks.” He won the whole thing and worked the block like he always does. Cadillac in the post.
• Hit: I praised jdherrud’s balance. He landed on the podium.
• Ongoing theme: I kept nitpicking SnickleFrits while he stayed elite.
• Lesson: Respect boring balance. It travels. If I fade your volume and it hits, clap back at me.

2022

• Whiff: I teased Texasforever’s BYU lean again. He finished second. He should have texted me receipts. I earned them.
• Hit: I finally stopped underestimating SnickleFrits. He took the top spot.
• Undersold: I basically called Uncle Jrue boring. He finished third. Steady points win.
• Lesson: Process over vibes beats me more than I admit. That is three straight years I should have learned that lesson.

2023

• Whiff: I underestimated SnickleFrits again, and he won again. I also ranked Atwater’s draft third worst. He finished third. Those are almost Steven A. Smith level bad takes.
• Hit: I loved Joe Buck Yourself’s draft. She finished second and nearly made me look like a genius.
• Self-own: I knew my own draft was hot trash and said so. It was.
• Lesson: My confidence is undefeated. My takes are not.

2024

• Whiff: I did not call Face planting as the favorite. He won and ran a clinic.l start to finish. Glow ups are a real thing when shedding unnecessary weight in life. Kudos, brother. Bask in it.
• Hit: I finished second. Over the Taysom Hill took third and rode his elite running backs to another really strong finish.
• Context: I thought Khaki Kommandos would dominate. He led the league in points against instead. Rough luck. All freaking season long.
• Lesson: Drafts matter. Health, variance, and schedule still have the final say.

Clear Winners

jdherrud: Half-Man, Half-Amazin’ Award

• Why it’s giga: Lamar plus Achane is the poster. Dak is the caption. WR room is four “hold my Gatorade” buttons. Nico cooks on in-breakers, Brian Thomas Jr. is an alien on posts, Worthy’s motion juice is illegal in seven states, Rice can turn a bubble into a TED Talk and will cook in playoff weeks. No cap, that’s fire and it’s giving main character.
• Roster energy: Double top-8 QBs for superflex means you are never caught lacking. Conner and Ekeler are adult PPR innings eaters, so the floor stays grown while the kids hit 60-yard cut scenes. Built different.
• Red flags, keep it 100: TE is vibes until Kraft or Loveland grabs the keys. If Achane sits even a week, the identity slides from cinematic to merely excellent. Stay locked fam.
• Swing levers: Worthy snap rate and a real route tree beyond gadget looks. Rice availability and target rate, because that is the difference between cracked and just clean.
• Keeper meta: Worthy 6th → 2nd is nightmare fuel if usage sticks. Ollie Gordon 14th → 10th becomes the coupon if Miami onboards him for real.

Over the Taysom Hill: Groceries to Glory Award

• Why it’s cracked: Luxury tax paid. Nabers and MHJ walk in with alpha presence, Gibbs and Kamara catch checks like rent is due, Puka is a route librarian who shushes secondaries, McBride plus Andrews is TE scarcity warfare. Tua in the 8th is “I waited and still ate.” That is chef’s kiss.
• Roster energy: Three win conditions on tap. WR alpha spam when you want explosions. RB reception spam when you want drip-by-drip PPR physics. Double-TE mismatch spam when you want to ratio the whole lobby. Superflex stays stable with Tua cooking while McCarthy levels up in the background.
• Red flags, keep it 100: Mostly health variance. If two studs hit the blue tent on the same slate it gets vibes-only real quick. Sophomore volatility exists, but Nabers and MHJ feel built for the Year 2 boss fight.
• Swing levers: Gibbs getting real red-zone sauce instead of cardio. Andrews staying dialed after the injury arc. McBride target share holding when scripts get weird and with MHJ growth.
• Keeper meta: Trey Benson 13th → 9th is the stash with plot armor if usage gets adult by November. Michael Pittman 16th → 12th is free parking if the targets keep vibing and any QB shows up. Tua 8th → 4th only makes sense if he avoids another hit to the head and drops a top six finish.

Tier 2 Winners

Joe Buck Yourself: Commissioner’s Mirror Award

• Why it’s giving mirror: Josh Allen is GOATed and Kittle stays him, so the weekly main-character energy is baked in. Kyren and Pollard are pure calories, zero mid. Davante is still a route artisan, Ridley brings sneaky TEN synergy with Pollard, and Fields is the Konami-code nuke when you want to speedrun a matchup. The Shakir snipe was petty in the best way. Lowkey this looks like I drafted this team myself. No cap.
• Roster energy: Highkey balanced. One alpha QB to bully defenses on Sundays, one premium TE to ratio the position, two RBs with work rate that slaps, two veteran WRs who separate like pros, and utility depth with Charbonnet and Stevenson so bye weeks do not clap back. Russ as adult supervision. It’s giving built different and it ate.
• Red flags, keep it 100: RB3 clarity is a little sus until Stevenson or Charbonnet pockets the money touches. Ridley target share in Tennessee can get vibes-based if the script goes ground-and-pound. Davante will eat, but Puka exists, so some weeks the Rams pecking order might ratio expectations and Stafford is brittle. If he goes down, you’re in trouble. Kittle has occasional cardio games, maybe later in the season when wide receivers return. Fields in New York is elite ceiling, but if play-calling goes NPC the floor gets spicy.
• Swing levers: Pollard inside the five decides if this build is cracked or just clean. Kyren’s health is the season’s vibe check. Full on Friday means Gucci for Sunday. Shakir’s slot snaps are your sneaky drip that turns Ls into Big Dubs. Fields unlocking designed runs plus deep shots is the cheat code if the Jets let him cook.And they’ve said they will. If those hit, the room leaves no crumbs. That stretch went full skibidi: busted coverage, tip pick, short field, tilt.
• Keeper meta: Shakir 10th → 6th is the tidy coupon. Stevenson 13th → 9th is a glow-up path if New England stops trolling and the Henderson hype is for real. Charbonnet 9th → 5th becomes free parking if Seattle leans in or Walker is his usual porcelain self. Pollard 6th → 2nd only makes sense if he goes full sigma with hero-ball numbers.

Uncle Jrue: The Big Fundamental Award

• Why it’s giving Big Fundamental: Ja’Marr is franchise-level rizz, Purdy keeps the ops on schedule, and the rest is adult points that just eat. Evans wins like a boomerang meme that always comes back, Walker hits different when the edges are sealed, Engram will hoard targets, Keenan is still a route librarian, and Aaron Jones is pure savvy. Lowkey boring, highkey GOATed for winning weeks in November. Weeks 10–14 should be gas for this passing game.
• Roster energy: Structure over chaos, periodt. Two steady QBs so superflex never feels sus. WR room is “I’m him” without the drama. RBs are vibes plus volume, with Mixon and Jones as grown-man insurance while Chase Brown slays as the young gun. Bye coverage looks civilized, no FOMO start-sit tilts on Sunday.
• Red flags, keep it 100: The RB room needs health RNG to be kind. If Walker or Jones gets salty with the blue tent, the flex vibes turn mid. Maye is lowkey Josh Allen mini-me, but the sophomore slump is real. Eyes up, fam. Engram will have a cardio week or two that makes you feel gaslit.
• Swing levers: Chase Brown touch share, especially inside the ten, is the difference between clean and cracked. IYKYK. Walker’s targets decide if this build is just sturdy or actually bougie. Sutton red-zone usage is your sneaky drip.
• Keeper meta: Keenan 12th → 8th is free parking if the targets keep vibing. I do not care how old he is. Tyjae Spears 16th → 12th is a tidy long play if the role levels up. Sutton 7th → 3rd is live if Denver treats him like the first read near paint. I have been a Sutton truther too long and I will stan forever. Engram 9th → 5th hits if the volume stays spicy.

Rafi Bomb: Comeback Season Award

• Why it’s giving bounce-back arc: Hurts and McLaurin are nuclear. That duo ate last year and left no crumbs. Tyreek is looking to bounce back with a healthy Tua. Derrick Henry is still a volume supervillain, Swift adds pass-game drip, and Kincaid keeps third downs civilized. Jordan Love at QB2 is highkey stable with upside spikes. Broncos D and Roquan are hidden points merchants that quietly farm Ws.
• Roster energy: Track meet mode when Hurts and McLaurin go zoomies. Grinder mode when Henry and Swift stack first downs and vibes. Safety mode when Kincaid turns ten targets into therapy. Odunze and Godwin let you play matchup chess, then Aiyuk on the bench is your late-season glow up if the snaps align. It’s giving adaptable vibes.
• Red flags, keep it 100: WR depth wants Odunze to arrive on schedule and adult this year. If he is late to the party the flex gets mid. Henry’s age curve is not fake, so you want Baltimore to keep the red-zone tea piping. Swift can get vibes-only near the stripe if Chicago goes jumbo. Kincaid volume should slap, but if Buffalo spreads it thin like last year you might feel gaslit for weeks.
• Swing levers: Swift’s goal-line monopoly is the difference between cracked and just clean. Odunze target share while DJM eats is the mood. Love’s weekly rushing sprinkles are free money if they keep calling them. Godwin’s role in Tampa is your sneaky drip when he’s healthy.
• Keeper meta: Cousins 16th → 12th is only a W if ATL pivots off Penix. Odunze 10th → 6th is a real coupon if he levels up. Aiyuk 15th → 11th is chef’s kiss if the targets stay loyal and he get’s healthy. Jaylen Warren 12th → 8th is tidy if the Steelers keep him cooked into the script.

Face planting: Half-Man, Half-Amazin’ Award

• Why it’s giga: Mahomes is GOATed and moves like main character. Jefferson is pure rizz with hands. Waddle hits different when Miami goes zoomies. Breece can be a volume supervillain under Aaron Glenn, who will spam the run when the script allows. Hockenson hoards targets like shiny Pokémon. That core ate and left no crumbs, no cap. Jefferson lasting to the second round was delulu. Bruh!
• Roster energy: Highkey balanced. QB room is comfy with Mahomes as the driver and Baker as the vibes-safe QB2 even when scripts get weird. RB room is solid with Breece plus two glow-up swings in Omarion Hampton and RJ Harvey. This backfield finna split 60-40 until someone owns third downs. • Swing levers: Hampton’s load share, Harvey’s RB room takeover, and how much Waddle eats when Tua hits the turf and lands on IR. Likely’s weekly route rate is your stealth TE insurance. If those hit, this roster is cracked.
• Keeper meta: Luther Burden 16th → 12th is the clean coupon. Jayden Higgins 12th → 8th is live if Houston keeps him cooked into the script. Isaiah Likely 15th → 11th hits if the routes stay spicy and Baltimore keeps him involved next to Andrews. Nick Chubb 14th → 10th is a patience play if the knee clears; MCL, ACL, meniscus is a full trilogy (bad bet). Breece 6th → 2nd is elite but pricey; it prints if the usage stays king and he eventually secures a bag in a backfield that treats him like royalty.

Ertz2Hurtz: The Tuck Rule Award

• Why it’s bussin: Starters are lowkey a final boss. Bijan is him, savage after first contact. Jeanty is a bully, and LaPorta with Goff is straight-up synergy that ate and left no crumbs. DeVonta is smooth WR1.5 rizz, Zay brings yak spam, Ladd enters Year 2 with certified separation. If variance hits right, this squad is unironically unstoppable and can slay week in and week out.
• Roster energy: It’s giving balanced menace. RB room is power plus pass-game drip. TE is GOATed for the position and makes Monday nights feel cozy. WR trio can ratio most secondaries, then Jakobi slides in with adult points when you need to touch grass and just bank 12. QB room is stable vibes with Goff steering, Geno as reliable aux, Dart as the high-ceiling stash.
• Red flags, keep it 100: Bench is a little mid. QB room wants steady scripts; if Detroit or Vegas go NPC you will feel it. WR depth after DeVonta, Zay, and Ladd can get thin if one disappears. Jaydon Blue and Ray Davis need real roles or the RB cushion is cosplay. Cade Otton is not a flex. That’s an ick for me. The build works, but it’s basic.
• Swing levers: Jeanty’s usage and red-zone monopoly with Vegas is the difference between cracked and just clean. Ladd’s first-read share in Year 2 decides if this cooks on the regular. Zay’s weekly route rate and manufactured touches are your drip. Jaydon Blue’s usage in Dallas and Ray Davis poaching short yardage for Buffalo are sneaky season-changers. If Dart sees starts, that’s free clout at QB2.
• Keeper meta: Ray Davis 15th → 11th is tidy if the Bills hand him money touches or Cook misses time. Jaydon Blue 12th → 8th glow up hits if the Dallas script gets generous. Jauan Jennings 11th → 7th works if he stays healthy and the role cements. Jaxson Dart 10th → 6th is spicy if he bags QB1 for the Giants and flips on creator mode with scramble yards and YOLO balls. Stash the coupons, fam, and farm value.

Kelly Tough: Priest Holmes Paydirt Dependency Award

• Why it’s giving TD farm: CMC plus JT is bully ball with sparkle. Amon Ra is target hoarder rizz. DK is a red zone menace. DJ Moore brings YAC spam. Kyler and Trevor stack passing tuds with bonus legs when the vibes demand it. JT basically has a timeshare on my roster at this point. I draft him like clockwork and he keeps paying rent. This build wants paint. If the paint hits, it eats.
• Roster energy: Highkey balanced around touchdowns. Two RB1s who live near the pylon. WR room that wins routes clean and spikes when the script cooks. Njoku as the big-slot safety valve. Depth pockets with Bryce Young, Downs, and rookie juice at RB keep the bench from feeling mid.
• Red flags, keep it 100: CMC health is the franchise fit check. Big risk. It has to pay off for this season to be a dub. This engine is TD reliant. If red zone RNG goes cold for two weeks, the tilt is audible. TE after Njoku is vibes only until Mason Taylor earns trust. Rookie RB depth is projection until Kaleb Johnson or JCM grabs money touches. Bryce as QB3 is a glow-up bet, not insurance.
• Swing levers: Healthy CMC flips coin-flip Sundays into dubs. That is the lever. Kyler’s designed runs are the cheat code that flips close weeks. Trevor’s red-zone chemistry decides whether Sundays are cracked or clean. DK’s end-zone targets in Pittsburgh and DJM target share in Chicago are my weekly drip.
• Keeper meta: Olave 11th → 7th is the clean coupon if a QB shows up in NO. Kaleb Johnson 10th → 6th pays if he takes over in Pittsburgh. Josh Downs 15th → 11th is live if the slot spam in Indy gets spicy. Bryce Young 8th → 4th only makes sense if the Year 3 leap hits. Losers

SnickleFrits: 2007 Patriots On Paper

• Why it’s yikes: On paper this is GOATed. Saquon, Herbert, A. J. Brown, Garrett Wilson is cinema. Then you peep the rest and it’s giving “pls stay healthy or I’m cooked.” It ate in the draft room, no cap, but the margin for error is thin like a TikTok trend. Fade Bradley? Couldn’t be me… except it is. Every. Single. Time.
• Why I am the clown and it still hits: Deada$$ if the stars stay upright and Caleb goes from tutorial to main character by Halloween, this roster is him. Saquon farms, A. J. and Garrett ratio secondaries, Deebo yaks, Pacheco rage runs, Tyler Warren steals red zone clout, and I end up calling it fragile while it eats and leaves no crumbs. When the stars align this team is built different. No cap, that is on me.
• Red flags, keep it 100: TE is pure vibes with Tyler Warren until proven otherwise. Depth is lowkey sus after Pacheco and Deebo. If Saquon hits a maintenance week the flex becomes a prayer circle. Darnold as QB3 is fine, but if Caleb ramps slow again you are juggling fire. Jeudy and Bateman are mood rings. One blue tent and the whole aura shifts mid.
• Swing levers: Caleb’s ramp speed. If he goes from rookie jitters to creator mode by October, superflex gets cracked. Tyrone Tracy’s role in New York determines whether you bully Mondays or cope. Deebo’s weekly touches between jet motion and goal-line sauce decide vibes.
• Keeper meta: Javonte 14th → 10th is live if Dallas feeds him. Tyrone Tracy 9th → 5th is the glow-up path if the Giants hand him real work. Pearsall 12th → 8th is steady if the target share stays adult.

HarbaughCo (Team 15):  A-Train Paydirt Express

• Why it’s yikes: It’s giving TD-or-bust. Jacobs and Monty live at the one, Kelce still has VIP at the paint but a late-season fade is on the table. Cook farms yards between the 20s but his red-zone clout is vibes. Regression feels real. If the sixes get stingy, Sundays get sweaty, no cap.
• Why I am the clown and it still hits: Stroud plus Jayden is a cheat code that can be highkey bussin. If Kelce keeps farming inside the five late in the year, Cook does not regress on TDs, and Monty keeps gatekeeping the goal line, this offense eats. Kupp and Addison are adult points when scripts and health behave, and Higgins can hard carry when the Bengals go full send. I call it volatile, it could still be him.
• Pain points, keep it 100: Rodgers depth is strictly nostalgia. Kupp hammy RNG is a jump scare. KC red-zone pie might get shared more than your heart wants. If Detroit funnels Gibbs at the stripe, Monty’s aura goes mid. Cook got his bag and McDermott may keep him fresh for January.
• Swing levers: Higgins target share and end-zone looks decide if WR1 energy is real or cosplay. Cook’s goal-line snaps and run share are the season’s vibe check. Jayden’s rushing tuds can hard-carry weeks. Kelce’s inside-the-five usage is the difference between cracked and clean.
• Keeper meta: Keon Coleman 14th → 10th is a glow-up if he becomes Buffalo’s high-point merchant by November. Addison 10th → 6th is tidy if the targets vibe and McCarthy is Him. Pitts 11th → 7th works… never mind, that pick is cooked. Banish him from fantasy until forever.

Atwater: Cadillac Williams Smooth Operator

• Why it’s yikes: The draft reads smooth like a Pinnacle sales script but is it all smoke and mirrors? The RB room looks like all vibes and prayers. Burrow with Nix and Penix is triple-QB drip that lowkey burns capital. TE started as Jonnu and you already pivoted to Hunter Henry. Move 1 of 200 at that spot. Travis Hunter is rookie rizz, but role volatility is real and snap count is a mystery. Egbuka and Golden are heat checks. You might be living WR-only until an RB stops cosplaying.
• Why I am the clown and it still hits: When London cooks as a true alpha, JSN finally goes full glow up, Hunter gets real manufactured touches, and Egbuka eats like a quiet king, WR spam can carry you. Burrow will eat with no defense plus Nix competence means superflex stays him. If Penix steals starts, it’s giving chaos gremlin in the best way. One Chuba or Bigsby goal-line heater and this build leaves no crumbs while I look cooked for doubting.
• Pain points, keep it 100: Chuba, Bigsby, Skattebo, Mason, Braelon is a lot of maybes. If two of them whiff at the same time, the flex turns mid. TE room is just vibes, no cap. Target tug-of-war is possible in Jacksonville with Hunter in the mix. Golden is a rookie vibe check in Green Bay, not a guarantee.
• Swing levers: JSN Year 3 leap is the difference between clean and cracked. London target share in Atlanta decides your weekly floor. Hunter’s snap rate and gadget to real route ratio is the whole mood. Bigsby versus Tuten and Etienne usage, Chuba’s pass-down work in Carolina, and Braelon Allen poaching short yardage for the Jets are your RB oxygen tanks.
• Keeper meta: Penix 7th → 3rd is the spicy coupon if he goes full Washington Huskies mode. Troy Franklin 16th → 12th is free synergy if Denver lets the Nix-to-Franklin connection vibe. Matthew Golden 9th → 5th is a glow up if the Packers feed him or do they let everyone eat? Braelon Allen 13th → 9th prints if New York gives him money touches and fade the talent that is Hall. Egbuka 8th → 4th is tidy if he becomes a first read and there is no post Liam Coen dip.

Texasforever: Chris Webber Timeout

• Why it’s yikes: Start-sit migraine simulator. RB carousel got the aux on loop with Bucky, TreVeyon, Judkins, Etienne, and Allgeier. Bowers is weaponized, Ferguson is a safety net, but the WR room is youthful chaos with Tetairoa, Jamo, Reed, and Mims cooking on vibes. Cam Ward is a rookie mystery box, Stafford is the boomerang. It’s giving “call a timeout you don’t have.”
• Why I am the clown and it still hits: If TreVeyon shows up as advertised in New England, Bucky gets day-one bell-cow sauce, TreVeyon flashes creator mode, and Etienne keeps money touches while Judkins levels up, the backfield is suddenly him. Bowers plus Ferguson can ratio the position. CeeDee remains elite, and if Tetairoa or Jamo hits a full glow-up, you can spam WR spikes. Low key, this could eat.
• Pain points, keep it 100: Rookie volatility is real. If Ward ramps slow and Jamo’s targets yo-yo, you are chasing ghosts by 1:25 p.m. Panthers offense could be cardio early for Tetairoa.
• **Swing levers:**TreVeyon’s early snap share and red-zone work in New England is the whole mood. Bucky third-down work turns this from mid to bougie. If Jamo keeps the go routes and adds 6-plus targets, he turns from mid to a rizzler. Ward’s growth from vibes to real reads and red-zone design is the final buff.
• Keeper meta: Judkins 9th → 5th is the cleanest runway if Cleveland feeds him and he’s him. Jayden Reed 13th → 9th is sneaky if Love stays rizzed.

Closing Thoughts

Draft night is vibes. September is reality. Some of you are him already, some of you are waiting on a glow up, and a few of you are one blue tent away from coping in the group chat. Waivers will cook. Trades will get messy. I will talk spicy and then eat my own words when your RB3 turns into a volume supervillain. Bet.

Remember the meta. Roles beat vibes. Targets beat hope. Touchdowns lie and schedule luck does not care about your feelings.

• Why this build is strong: Premium receivers (Malik Nabers, Marvin Harrison Jr., Puka Nacua). Running backs who catch passes (Jahmyr Gibbs, Alvin Kamara). Two strong tight ends (Trey McBride, Mark Andrews) that let you win the position weekly. Tua in the 8th was good value.
• What could go wrong: Mostly injury or bye-week congestion. Sophomore dips are something to keep an eye on but less likely with this talent.
• What to watch: Gibbs getting goal-line carries rather than ceding them. Andrews’ weekly involvement after last year’s arc. McBride’s target share staying high when scripts change.
• Keeper angle: Trey Benson 13th to 9th is a quality future play. Michael Pittman 16th to 12th is another easy value if the targets stay heavy and someone shows up to play the QB position in Indy.

Tier 2 Winners

Joe Buck Yourself — Commissioner’s Mirror (I would have selected very similarly if I was drafting in this spot)

• Why this build is strong: Weekly edge at quarterback with Josh Allen and at tight end with George Kittle. Solid workload from Kyren Williams and Tony Pollard. Veteran receivers (Davante Adams, Calvin Ridley) who win routes consistently. Justin Fields gives boom-week potential at QB2. The Jets are going to let him run.
• What could go wrong: Need clarity on the third running back. Ridley’s week-to-week target volume could vary in a run-leaning script. Some Rams weeks may funnel away from Davante. Kittle can have quiet games. Fields’ floor depends on the Jets’ play-calling.
• What to watch: Pollard’s goal-line work and Kyren’s health. Shakir’s usage rate and slot usage. Designed runs and deep shots for Fields.
• Keeper angle: Khalil Shakir 10th to 6th is solid. Rhamondre Stevenson 13th to 9th is a sensible coupon if New England leans on him and Henderson underperforms.

Uncle Jrue — The Big Fundamental (Timmy Duncan reference)

• What could go wrong: Running backs need healthy weeks. If Walker or Jones misses time, the flex gets thin fast.
• What to watch: Chase Brown’s touches near the goal line. Walker’s targets to stabilize his floor. Courtland Sutton’s red-zone usage.
• Keeper angle: Keenan Allen 12th to 8th is still solid if the targets hold back in LA. Tyjae Spears 16th to 12th is a patient value if his role expands. Sutton 7th to 3rd works if Denver treats him like the first read near the goal line. Engram 9th to 5th is fine if the volume stays high.

• What to watch: Swift’s goal-line share in Chicago. Odunze’s target share while DJ Moore takes targets. Hurts’ designed runs, and Godwin’s role in the red zone.
• Keeper angle: Odunze 10th to 6th is your clean future play. Aiyuk 15th to 11th is great if his targets are there. Jaylen Warren 12th to 8th works if Pittsburgh keeps him involved.

Face planting — Half-Man, Half-Amazin’

• Keeper angle: Chris Olave 11th to 7th is the clean value with an even semi functioning QB. Kaleb Johnson 10th to 6th works if he handles short yardage in Pittsburgh or takes over the main share of carries. Josh Downs 15th to 11th if the slot role stays busy. Bryce Young 8th to 4th only if the Year 3 leap arrives. Mason Taylor 13th to 9th if he becomes a reliable part of the offense.

SnickleFrits — 2007 Patriots On Paper

• Why it’s risky: The top four are outstanding (Saquon Barkley, Justin Herbert, A. J. Brown, Garrett Wilson) but depth is thin. Tight end is a projection. One injury and weekly stability takes a big hit.
• Why it could still work: If Caleb Williams settles in by midseason, superflex becomes a weekly advantage and the roster can roll.
• What to watch: Caleb’s learning curve. Tyrone Tracy’s role with the Giants. Deebo Samuel’s weekly touches between motion plays and short-yardage looks.
• Keeper angle: Javonte Williams 14th to 10th if Dallas leans on him. Tracy 9th to 5th is the upside ticket. Ricky Pearsall 12th to 8th is steady if his target share holds.

HarbaughCo (Team 15) — A-Train Paydirt Express

Burrow volume helps, Nix looks competent for superflex and if he takes an anticipated step, that's ag reat combo. If Penix plays well, that’s more flexibility.
• What to watch: JSN’s Year 3 leap. London’s target share in Atlanta. Hunter’s snap count and whether he is more than a gadget player. Bigsby versus the other 2 running backs in Jax. Chuba Hubbard’s passing-down work. Whether Braelon Allen poaches short yardage for the Jets.
• Keeper angle: Penix 7th to 3rd only pays off if he plays well. Troy Franklin 16th to 12th is a nice future pairing with Nix, if they take a step. Matthew Golden 9th to 5th is a growth bet if Green Bay features him. Braelon Allen 13th to 9th works if New York feeds him at the stripe. Egbuka 8th to 4th is good if he becomes a primary read.

Texasforever — Chris Webber Timeout

• Why it’s risky: Weekly start-sit headaches. The backfield is crowded (Bucky Irving, TreVeyon Henderson, Quinshon Judkins, Travis Etienne, Tyler Allgeier) and the wide receivers are young and volatile. Cam Ward is a first-year question mark at quarterback.
• Why it could still work: If Henderson contributes early in New England, Bucky keeps getting third-down work, Etienne stays involved in the offense, and Judkins settles into a role, the backfield stabilizes. CeeDee Lamb carries the receiver room and Brock Bowers plus Jake Ferguson gives you steady tight end production.
• What to watch: Etienne’s role. Henderson’s early usage with the Patriots. Bucky’s passing-down work. Jameson Williams getting both deep shots and additional targets. Ward’s growth and trajectory.
• Keeper angle: Judkins 9th to 5th is the cleanest runway if Cleveland feeds him. Jayden Reed 13th to 9th is sneaky if Jordan Love keeps humming. Jake Ferguson 12th to 8th works if the Dak connection stays strong. Etienne 10th to 6th is fine if he earns a role anywhere.

Closing Thoughts

Draft night feels great. September tells the truth. Some of you already look like title contenders, some will grow into it, and a few are one injury away from frustration. The waiver wire will matter. Trades will get chaotic. I will talk big and I will be wrong sometimes, especially when your third running back suddenly gets a huge workload. Count on it.

Focus on usage. Stable roles beat hype. Targets matter more than wishes. Touchdowns can be random and the schedule will not care about your feelings.
